Talismans

The Talismans are objects, usually a necklace, that were created by the Monster Council and is passed down through generations of different monster families.

History[]

Background[]

10 years ago, the Monster Council created the talisman to trap terrifying beasts - such as the Splitzy, in a dimension known as "Beheme". Unfortunately, Selena Wolf - a former member of the Monster Council, was accidentally sent into Beheme while pregnant with her son, Clawd Wolf.

In "The Monstering", Apollo Wolf gifted Clawdeen Wolf with the Moonclaw talisman in a necklace, originally owned by her mom, for her 15th birthday. In a graveyard, she hears a voice calling to her which leads her all the way to Monster High. While fighting the onikuma Kuma, Clawdeen learns that the Moonclaw allows her to hone her werewolf abilities and is able to take on Kuma.

In "Unfinished Brain-ness", Clawdeen, Frankie Stein and Draculaura are in the catacombs and hear growling noises. They then come across Dr. Blunder's "beast", Watzie - a simulacrem puppy dog, that wears the frankenmonster talisman around his collar as a collar tag.

In "Part of the Pack", Romulus and Barkimedes try to persuade Clawdeen into handing over the Moonclaw so she can be a part of their pack. Barkimedes accidentally reveals that Romulus plans on using the Moonclaw in the ritual that happens when the waxing crescent moon is aligned to the werewolf statue to make him a powerful werewolf to be the wereruler of the werebeasts. But when Howleen Wolf - originally apart of the plan, learns that the Moonclaw was once Selena's, she convinces Romulus and Barkimedes to let Clawdeen keep the Moonclaw.

In "Paw-zzle Pieces", Clawdeen goes deep into the catacombs where Selena was accidentally trapped in "Beheme", and uses the Moonclaw to open up the portal. Instead of freeing her mom, Clawd and the Splitsee come through the portal, and the Splitsee causes mischief within the school. Clawdeen and her friends learn that Clawd is actually her secret long-lost brother, and helps him capture the Splitsee. They then inform Bloodgood of everything they learned, and she forbids them from opening the portal again as it can become unstable and destroy both the human and monster worlds. Frankie discovers that's Watzie's collar shows all the other talisman, learning that they already have the werewolf and frankenmonster ones, and now need to find the remaining ones to help free Selena from "Beheme".

In "Pyramid Scheme", Cleo de Nile enters her family's tomb to find something to help her be Cleopatra in the school's play. There, she discovers Cleopatra's necklace and believes that it'll help her win the role. Later, Nefera de Nile informs her sister Cleo that the necklace is actually the "Heart of Cleopatra", which she revealed to Frankie and Clawdeen that it can only be wielded by someone who's done a kind act. Cleo leaves her own heart behind to stop the booby traps inside the tomb, so that Clawdeen can have the mummy talisman attached to the necklace. Nefera tells Cleo that doing so allows her to wield the necklace, and that only she can have the talisman as it's chosen her after the kind act she enacted.

Talisman Founded[]

Notes[]

  • The Talismans debuted in "The Monstering".
  • The Monster Council created them to trap terrifying beasts in another dimension known as Beheme. A single Talisman has the power to reopen the portal, but this can only be done safely when the proper conditions are met (using all talismans with all members of the Council present during a Blood Moon Eclipse). Doing so without them can lead to dangerous results.[4]
  • In the second version of the "Out of the Shadows" music video, Twyla Boogeyman is seen holding a book titled Intro to Talismans. The book's cover features symbols related to each council member's talismans:
    • A red seashell (Sea monster)
    • A pink bat (Vampire)
    • A yellow bolt of electricity (Frankenmonster)
    • A blue gemstone (Mummy)
    • A yellow crescent moon (Werewolf)
    • A green snake (Gorgon)
