Skelita Calaveras is a 2023-introduced character. She is a skeleton who attends Monster High and is the daughter of Los Esqueletos (the skeletons in Spanish).
Portrayers[]
In the English version of the 2022 cartoon, Skelita Calaveras is voiced by Jessica Darrow.[1]
Character[]
Background[]
Skelita grew up in Hexico. As a child, she looked up to her Abuela, who was a skilled fashion designer. Inspired by her designs, Skelita dreamed of entering the Young Monsters in Fashion contest, just like her Abuela did when she was younger.
Personality[]
Skelita is a kind and family-oriented monster, with a love for fashion. She tends to get “feelings in her bones” if she feels like something good or bad is about to happen. This causes her to shake and, literally, fall apart. She is also a creative often sketching fashion ideas, spells and other things in her sketchbook. She doesn't confine herself to perfectionism and embraces the loppy side of things.
Appearance[]
Skelita is a thick-boned teenage skeleton who's design is inspired by a sugar skull. She sports long, wavy, hip-length black hair with bangs, followed by deep-pink and orange streaks with a braid on the left. Her hair also includes a hair accessory which consists of marigolds with a pearly sugar skull adorning the front.
Her soft-curved eyebrows are colored like her hair, and her warm-brown eyes sport long and thick eyelashes protruding from them. Her makeup consists of thick mascara, heavy cyan eyeshadow and peach-pink lipstick. She is a head shorter than Frankie.
For attire, Skelita wears a set of large pearly earrings which sport a similar design to the skull on her hair accessory, and a black dress with orange frilled trimming on the front and on the short puffed sleeves, followed by highly colorful decorations and designs that are associated with the Day of the Dead - being colored in orange, yellow, deep-pink, cyan, white and gold. She also wore a pair of black, open-toed wedge boots with deep-pink outlines that resemble skeleton ribs, marigolds placed on the sides, skulls to match her hair accessory and earrings, and black detailing on the chestnut-brown (possibly wooden) soles.
Abilities[]
- Bone Perception: Whenever something negative or positive is about to take place, Skelita's bones begin to shake out of control and she quite literally falls apart.
- Disembodiment/Skeleton Physiology: Due to being a Calaca, Skelita can remove her bones and attach them back in place, even her head too. This is similar to Frankie.
- Witchcraft: In addition to her already unique Calaca abilities, due to practicing witchcraft (more so as a hobby), Skelita can cast amber-colored spells.
- Anthropomorphistic Creation: As seen in "New Witch in Town", Skelita can conjure her sketches into real life events, like when she drew a smoothie and tried to make it fly towards her hand (but it instead soared into Bloodgood).
