Treesa Thornwillow a tree nymph
Nymphs are a type of monster in Monster High. Nymphs can be very different in Monster High, as Lagoona's mom is a water nymph, while Thorna and her sister Treesa are plant/forest nymphs. A nymph (Greek: νύμφη, nymphē) in Greek and Roman mythology is a young female deity typically identified with natural features such as mountains (oreads), trees and flowers (dryads and meliae), springs, rivers and lakes (naiads) or the sea (nereids). The Nymphs (nymphai) were minor nature goddesses which populated the earth. Although they were ranked below the gods, they were still summoned to attend the assemblies of the gods on Olympus.
The Nymphs presided over various natural phenomena--from springs, to clouds, trees, caverns, meadows, and beaches. They were responsible for the care of the plants and animals of their domain, and as such, they were closely associated with the Olympian gods of nature such as Hermes, Dionysus, Artemis, Poseidon and Demeter.
Monster High[]
Generation 1[]
Not much is known about nymphs in Monster High as Lagoona's mom and Posea Reef (who is also a goddess) are the only nymphs in Generation 1 who aren't hybrids.
As a water nymph, Lagoona's mom has to stay near water or she can become weak.
Posea is a sea nymph and a goddess, and she could also be seen as a type of mermaid. Unlike other nymphs, Posea knows magic as she is a sea mage, most likely because she is also part goddess.
Since Lagoona's mom is a sea nymph, Lagoona Blue is also a sea nymph, but her father is a water monster making her a hybrid but it's never said that she's a hybrid. Which also means that Lagoona's siblings are also nymph hybrids.
Generation 2[]
In Generation 2, we're introduced to two nymphs. Treesa Thornwillow and her sister Thorna Thornwillow are forest type nymphs. Tressa cares deeply for nature like a tree nymph would also care about nature in mythology.
Lagoona's mother in generation 2 is mostly likely still a sea nymph but it's unclear if Lagoona and her siblings are also nymph hybrids in this generation.
Description[]
Since there has only been a few nymphs in the Monster High franchise as a whole, two of them being sea nymphs, five being sea nymph hybrids and two of them being tree nymphs, it's only known what sea nymphs and tree nymphs look like.
Lagoona's mom is a sea nymph who has pale purple skin and fish fins on her legs and arms. She has pale blue hair with blonde streaks and small purple spikes on her shoulders. Posea has pale blue skin, a lower body of tentacles and gills.
Tressa and her sister have bark-like skin, and they have branches on their bodies resembling trees. Treesa even has a few vines on her. Both of them also have large, long, and oddly shaped ears.
