The Moonclaw talisman, also known as the Moonclaw necklace or Werebeast talisman, is an object created by the Monster Council. It was formerly owned by Selena Wolf, and now owned by Clawdeen Wolf. With Catarina Stripe breaking the Human talisman, it later was combined with the Moonclaw talisman as a "bling update".[Source] After Hemming, a Werewhale with the ability to shapeshift, was defeated and apologized for his misdeeds, Clawdeen, feeling sorry for him, decided to give him her necklace as a gift, so he could find a form that was unique and true to him instead of stealing the forms of others.
Appearance[]
The Moonclaw is a circular golden talisman. It has a round, smooth purple gem in it, making the gold on it resemble a crescent moon. The talisman has a golden chain, with crescent moon and star-shaped pendants on it. After the Monster Ball, the gem has since been combined with the golden gem on the Human talisman.
History[]
The Moonclaw talisman was created by the Monster Council, as well as other talismans representing a different monster type. The Moonclaw represents the werebeasts, while the others represent frankenmonsters, vampires, mummies, water monsters and gorgons. Each talisman belonged to a member of the original Monster Council. They used the talismans to open a portal to Beheme in the school's wellspring of power during a Blood Moon Eclipse, with all the members of the Council present, opening the portal in a different can unleash disasters on the world. Many of the talisman were hidden as time passed by, while the Moonclaw talisman was passed by generations of werewolves.
During Selena's teenage years at Monster High, she received the Moonclaw during the Moonlight Ritual. The talisman enhanced her abilities and allowed her to become the newest Were-Ruler of all Were-Beasts. After this, Selena started wearing the Moonclaw as a necklace around her neck. After graduating, Selena met human Apollo, a monster researcher. Despite their species being enemies, the two fell in love, got married and had a daughter, Clawdeen Wolf.
10 years ago, Selena had to leave for a task from the Monster Council, she left the Moonclaw necklace behind for her daughter Clawdeen Wolf, so she could find Monster High. The Monster Council entered the school's wellspring of power, where the portal is located. Unfortunately, Selena was accidentally sent into Beheme while she was pregnant with her son, Clawd Wolf.
In "The Monstering", Apollo gifted Clawdeen with the Moonclaw for her 15th birthday. In a graveyard, she hears a voice calling to her which leads her all the way to Monster High. While fighting the onikuma, Kuma, Clawdeen learns that the Moonclaw allows her to hone her werewolf abilities and is able to take on Kuma.
In "Part of the Pack", Romulus and Barkimedes try to persuade Clawdeen into handing over the Moonclaw so she can be a part of their pack. Barkimedes accidentally reveals that Romulus plans on using the Moonclaw in the ritual that happens when the waxing crescent moon is aligned to the werewolf statue to make him a powerful werewolf to be the Were-Ruler of the Were-Beasts. But when Howleen Wolf - originally apart of the plan, learns that the Moonclaw was once Selena's, she convinces Romulus and Barkimedes to let Clawdeen keep the Moonclaw.
In "Paw-zzle Pieces", Clawdeen goes deep into the catacombs where Selena was accidentally trapped in "Beheme" and uses the Moonclaw to open up the portal. Instead of freeing her mom, Clawd and the Splitzy come through the portal, and the Splitzy causes mischief within the school. Clawdeen and her friends learn that Clawd is actually her secret long-lost brother and helps him capture the Splitzy. They then inform Headmistress Bloodgood of everything they learned, and she forbids them from opening the portal again as it can become unstable and destroy both the human and monster worlds. Frankie discovers that's Watzie's collar shows all the other talismen, learning that they already have the werewolf and frankenmonster ones, and now need to find the remaining ones to help free Selena from "Beheme".
In "Power Heist", Catarina Stripe, who became the Were-Ruler after Selena got stuck in Beheme, learned that Clawdeen was holding the Moonclaw. As a substitute teacher to assign the students the talisman projects, Catarina paired her up with her own daughter Toralei for a project about the Moonclaw. After the Talisman projects, Catarina became interested in getting the Moonclaw Necklace from Clawdeen, so she had a devilish idea. She met Clawdeen once again and proposed a trade: The Moonclaw Necklace for the diary of Selena, which may hold the key to bringing her back. But Toralei helped Clawdeen, they replaced Selena's diary with a fake one in Catarina's bag, then Clawdeen gave Catarina a fake Moonclaw, so Catarina burned the fake diary, believing it to be the real diary.
In "The Monster Way", during the Monster Ball, the Boo Crew represented a new Monster Council to bring Selena back from Beheme. Clawdeen with the Moonclaw, Frankie with the Frankenmonster Talisman, Draculaura with the Vampire Talisman, Cleo with the Mummy Talisman, Lagoona with the Sea Monster Talisman and Deuce with the Gorgon Talisman. They entered the school's wellspring of power during a Blood Moon Eclipse. While they were trying to oepn the portal, Catarina interrupted the ritual and possessed the All Monster Talisman to steal the power of the talismans and become the most powerful ruler of all monsters in the world, and then she trapped the Boo Crew in the catacombs. Fortunately, Draculaura cast a spell to get them all out of there. Then, Frankie remembered that there is only one talisman that can neutralize the all-monster talisman from Catarina: the Human Talisman. While the rest of the Boo Crew evaded from the other monsters that are possessed by Catarina via livestream, Frankie, Draculaura, Clawd, and Apollo found the Human Talisman, which is stuck on the front door of the Wolf residence. After that, Clawdeen and Toralei finally made amends with one another, and then Clawdeen gave Toralei the werecreature talisman while Clawdeen uses the all-human talisman to stop Catarina, Toralei's own mother. The final battle against Catarina has begun, and the Boo Crew are all using their talismans to neutralize the all-monster talisman. Suddenly, Catarina captured Apollo and tried to turn him into a stone with gorgon power. However, Clawdeen sacrificed herself to protect her father and to finally remove all the power from Catarina, defeating her in a process. After bringing Clawdeen back to life, the Boo Crew finally opened the portal and Selena came back to rejoin her family. After that, Selena stepped down from the throne and Clawdeen became the new Were-Ruler for saving everyone in Monster High.
Powers[]
The Moonclaw talisman gifts its owner with incredible strength and speed. It also allows its owner to transform from a werebeast to a human, and vice-versa, whenever they want, without needing a full moon.
