Monster High: New Scaremester is a monthly comic book series published monthly by IDW Publishing. It consists of ten main issues, as well as several seasonal one-shot issues.[2] The series was previewed in a short comic book given away on Free Comic Book Day, and the series began publication on August 7, 2024[1].
The series is heavily based on the first generation continuity, and focuses on the six main ghoulfriends as they try to hold their friendship together while dealing with new responsibilities, and investigating a sinister new threat to Monster High. The story takes place after the events of the book Once Bitten, Twice Dead.[3]
At Free Comic Book Day 2024, a schedule for future issues was announced, with the series originally ending in May 2025. However, during IDW Publishing's solicitations and advertisements, changes were made to the release dates, with some issues being released in the month following the original schedule. In addition, the first volume of the trade paperback was announced for May 6, 2025, which was the previously speculated end date for the series.

In October 2023, Mattel announced a partnership with IDW in the Monster High publishing program[2], resulting in the New Scaremester series starting with an issue on Free Comic Book Day 2024.[4]
