Volume 4, Episode 4: Clawdeen's cake task goes hilariously wrong in a haunted kitchen! Meanwhile, Draculaura unlocks a new power. Cupid reminds us that effort and love make every moment magical!
Summary[]
Clawdeen continues to take the lead in organizing Draculaura's birthday party tonight, especially since everyone's still terrified over what Cupid's prophecy could mean. Cupid attempts to put them at ease by mentioning her prophecies require interpretation, but not even she can interpret the prophecy in a positive light. Clawdeen tasks the Boo Crew with preparing everything needed for the perfect party: Frankie's in charge of the photobooth, Cupid and Venus handle the balloons and flowers, Lagoona and Abbey build an ice-cream tower, Cleo's covered the party favors, and Jinafire has designed the party gowns. As for Clawdeen herself? She's forgotten to take care of the cake!
Back in the present at the "Heart to Heart" podcast, Clawdeen talks about how upset she was that she let Draculaura down. Draculaura assures her she didn't care that much about the cake, only for everyone to side eye her - brief flashbacks expose her for dropping not-so-subtle hints to her friends about wanting the perfect cake for days at Monster High. Regardless, everyone laughs it off.
Continuing the story, Frankie suggests they all just bake the cake themselves, which helps Clawdeen remember that she received the recipe from Draculaura and whips out a huge cook book. Meanwhile, Draculaura practices telekinesis on her iCoffin in her hotel room with Heath motivating her, but to no avail. Even Spectra and Twyla enter to help out. Twyla reads from her book ‘Unlocking Telekinesis 101’ that doing so can take centuries, which only makes Draculaura feel worse.
Clawdeen, Frankie, and Cleo enter the Boo-tique Hotel kitchen to bake the cake, and quickly discover that it's haunted, as several items float in the air and a sentient cupcake keeps biting Cleo. It proves to be a stressful task, from the sentient frosting chasing Crescent around to the chocolate spiders Cleo's scarabs sorted going missing. In the end, the finished cake is an utter disaster.
Twyla and Spectra give Draculaura advice from their respective go-to sources, books and EekTok, both of which juxtapose each other. Spectra even tries to make Draculaura not feel alone by showing she still struggles lifting things because of her intangibility. Nothing works. Draculaura then receives another text from her dad, who says he's very excited. Suddenly, several objects in the room, and even her friends, begin floating, and Draculaura figures it must be her telekinesis working, but despite these developments, she quickly realizes she needs a lot of practice.
In the kitchen, Cupid arrives with the perfect birthday cake they needed. As it turns out, Clawdeen hadn't forgotten to order it and was simply too overwhelmed. Clawdeen suggests disposing of their failed cake, but Frankie and Cupid decide to keep it as it shows their efforts, even though all the pets are already helping themselves.
Back at the podcast, Clawdeen says when looking back at stressful situations, all you can do is laugh, and Cupid assures the listeners it's okay to not be perfect as long as you try your best. Out of the blue, one of the sentient cupcakes digs its teeth into Cupid's arm; she struggles to get it off and exclaims in pain as everyone else laughs.
