Description[]

Volume 4, Episode 2: When the Boo Crew's luggage vanishes, tensions rise! With Cupid's help and Jinafire's creativity, they design faboolous gowns just in time for Draculaura's big night. Teamwork saves the day!

Summary[]

The Boo Crew have now arrived in Hauntlywood! As they roam the streets, Cleo livestreams on EekTok with her scarabs carrying her iCoffin. She reports that they're here to celebrate both Draculaura's birthday and title as monster of the century. An uneasy Draculaura tries to tell them something, but the Boo-tique Hotel, where they'll stay for the trip, catches their eye, and everyone else excitedly rushes inside. Draculaura however continues to worry, especially when she notices the empty Skullette symbol on the boulevard in front of the hotel - her name will be written on that Skullette tomorrow, right next to her dad's. But Draculaura vents out her fears to Count Fabulous; she does not feel authentic enough to be deserving of the award since she can't do telekinesis. In fact, she feels like a fraud.

When the crew enter the hotel, they're in pure awe of its interior appearance and design. Unexpectedly, Cleo screams in frustration, as the hotel management lost their luggage in spite of the hotel's acclaimed status. She impatiently taps the bell on the counter as none of the staff is around, until her older sister Nefera struts down the stairs, welcoming them as a golden aura glows around her. Draculaura, Clawdeen, Frankie, and Cupid praise her presence, but Cleo feels nothing but disgust and confusion, and asks Nefera what she's doing here. Nefera explains she's here as an intern for her royal hospitality class. Cleo therefore blames Nefera for being the reason their luggage is lost, especially since their gowns for Draculaura's birthday party/monster of the century ceremony were in them. Nervous, Draculaura intervenes, attempting to tell them about her struggles again, but the angered de Nile sisters put her off as they continue to argue and blame each other. Even their respective pets, Tut and Lavish, fight on the counter.

Cupid mitigates the situation, asking everyone to take a deep breath. She sings a song introducing herself and about how she shares her wisdom to repair any relationship. Even though Cleo and Nefera keep on arguing while dancing midway through, Cupid's mini dance party does successfully manage to cool them down... for now, at least. Draculaura tries to speak up yet again, but Jinafire has arrived at the hotel, and overhears about the missing gowns. She agrees to make new ones with her fashion design expertise, but she doesn't have any equipment. That's when Nefera remembers there's somewhere in the hotel that's just what they need. Following her into a secret passage behind a bookshelf, they all enter a dark stone-built area. Draculaura, using her witchcraft powers, lights up the room, and the boo crew see it's an abandoned fashion studio. They all get to work, laughing and having a good time as they make the perfect party dresses. Draculaura tries to do telekinesis again, this time on a yarn ball with needles in it, and it still doesn't work. When Jinafire asks her in Mandarin if she's alright, Draculaura lies that she is. It's not long before they finish; Draculaura, Cleo, Clawdeen, and Frankie are now wearing all new chic gowns for the party, courtesy of Jinafire.

Back at the podcast, Cupid tells the listeners that when things seem rough, optimism can lead to fun solutions, like turning a royal meltdown into showing up to help friends in need.

Notes[]

  • It is revealed that, in-universe, Jinafire Long was responsible for Draculaura, Frankie, Cleo, and Clawdeen's designs in the Scary Sweet Birthday line.
  • It's revealed that Dracula has his own Skullette on the Hauntlywood Boulevard. Whether this is because of his status as a famous actor or because he possibly holds the title of the previous monster of the century is unclear.
  • It's no coincidence that Cupid, Nefera, and Jinafire have significant roles in this webisode. All three make up G3's 2025 new student dolls.

Continuity[]

  • Tut makes his webisode debut, while Lavish makes their overall cartoon debut.
    • Curiously, there is still no story as to how Tut became Cleo's pet. In the TV series, Cleo's only pet was Hissette, who had her proper introduction in the episode "Pet Problems" as Cleo's very first pet. This causes discrepancies between the series and MindShow media; the latter makes references acknowledging the series as canon,[1] but also introduced Tut as Cleo's first and only pet all the way back in her character song, "Royally Rule This World", which was in line with the dolls at the time. Interestingly, Tut has been fully replaced by Hissette as Cleo's only pet in merchandise releases after Faboolous Pets.
    • It is unlikely MindShow has made a model for Hissette.
  • Draculaura and Jinafire converse in Mandarin again, following "The Haunted Sand Castle Caper".

Errors[]

  • When Draculaura says "Nevermind", her collar is missing.
  • Cupid's black choker is missing twice. The first time is when Draculaura's eye twitches and the second is when she flies in-between Cleo and Nefera during her song.
  • When Cleo and Nefera present Cleo's new gown, Nefera's snake choker and main part of her belt are missing.
