Summary[]
The ticking from the Skullette disco ball increases in speed - much to Frankie, Draculaura, and Clawdeen's fear - until purple goo bursts out of its eyes and all over the party guests. Despair is all around until Dracula falls out of a portal from above; he was able to escape the Not-So-Realm by performing the dance, which he found as a recording on Cleo's iCoffin. Despite this, Frankie is completely crestfallen as they were unable to solve the mystery. However, when a bag of Algae Snacks lands at their feet, a striking realization hits them. They've figured it all out.
At the Coffin Bean, Frankie has assembled a handful of the homecoming's attendees and Dracula in a meeting, showing off their mystery board. Frankie states that all the monsters that were portaled was because they had said the word "end", except one, which they reveal to be Deuce Gorgon, shocking everyone. They also reveal that one of the earworms isn't actually an earworm, and is in fact an algae poof, as they stick the bag of snacks onto the board. Continuing on, Frankie explains that when Clawdeen was collecting all the earworms at the end of the first episode, she mistakenly picked up an algae poof due to their similar appearances; this means that one of the monsters is still earwormed, and that someone near him said "end", causing him to be abducted. Frankie sings their anti-earworm song again: "listen to me, and be earworm-free". An earworm falls out of Deuce's ear, leaving him in utter disbelief. This is when the true culprit behind everything reveals themselves: it was the snakes on Deuce's head.
As it turns out, before the beginning of the dance, Deuce had found the mess of his snacks that Clawd had left in the mad science lab, leaving him upset and his snakes angry. As he was cleaning up, the snakes saw the earworm code and instantly encated their plan. They tried to open the pod but inserted the code incorrectly, so one of the snakes, Wrath, smashed open the glass. The snakes then forcefully put an earworm in Deuce's ear, singing "Now is your chance, take revenge at the dance". With Deuce secretly under their control, they framed Toralei by hoaxing the entire Formal Phantom ordeal, and stole Heath's Abbey song to cause the subsequent earworm prank. They also hacked the fog machines and filled the disco ball with Deuce's destroyed snacks. Whilst doing the latter, they were almost caught by Cleo, who was secretly placing her protection pyramid, but by sabotaging it to avoid their plans being ruined, they unwittingly caused the portals to the Not-So-Realm, which they call "a delightful surprise". The reason the snakes also had Deuce portaled was because Frankie remembered too much. Deuce becomes incredibly regretful; getting upset over something so trivial turned into something much worse, but Draculaura assures him that sweating the small stuff won't mean the end of the world, a lesson she is now learning herself. They all then get Deuce's snakes' last prank of the night - a cardboard box with muffled sounds coming from it rolls in front of them. Dracula opens it, revealing Bloodgood's head inside. Bloodgood warns Deuce to control his snakes' behavior.
Cleo panics over accidentally posting the video of Dracula performing the return dance on EekTok, which is already becoming more successful than any of her actual videos, but offers to collaborate with the famous vampire some day. Draculaura asks Bloodgood if they can get the homecoming back on track, which the headmistress agrees to, especially since she's glad that the Formal Phantom hasn't actually returned. Thus the celebrations continue in the Coffin Bean, particularly with couples, like Frankie and Cleo, Abbey and Heath, and Draculaura and Clawd, slow dancing the night away. Draculaura narrates that overall, she's thankful that Monster High didn't end up getting dragged into another dimension. However, a misty spirit flies above them, into the library, and into a book on a shelf. The book falls to the ground, its pages flipping over until it closes shut. The logo of the Formal Phantom materializes on the cover...

Notes[]
- Like the rest of the Nickelodeon G3 webisodes, this episode's upload on the official Monster High YouTube channel was set to private in September 2024 for unknown reasons.
- This has made the original individual episode lost media through official means, but it is still available, like the rest of the volume, as an upload on the official Nickelodeon YouTube channel, which compiles all eight episodes into a 40 minute special. Said upload is blocked in the UK and Ireland.
- This episode is alternatively titled "Who Is The Formal Phantom?". It appears as text onscreen on Frankie's mystery board at the start of the second scene.
- It is revealed that Deuce's snakes were behind everything, which meant they were pretended to be the Formal Phantom to cover their tracks.
- The algae poofs' importance in the mystery was foreshadowed in episode 4 of the volume. Whilst seeming like an irrelevant moment, Lagoona asking Frankie if her Algae Snacks chips are a clue actually turn out to be one.
Milestones[]
- This is the last of the 2D-animated G3 webisodes that were co-produced by Nickelodeon.
