First Day of School is the starter doll line of Generation 2 and features the characters in day-to-day, fit-for-school outfits. It was released in two waves of three dolls each for a total of six. Wave 1, containing Ari Hauntington, Frankie Stein, and Draculaura, came out in Late May of 2016. Wave 2 is made up of Cleo de Nile, Clawdeen Wolf, and Lagoona Blue and hit shelves in Mid January of 2017.
Name
The first wave of the assortment is referred to as First Day of School in store listings, including the Mattel Shop. The name does not appear on the box nor is trademarked.
Assortment relations
First Day of School is the new 'Signature' line, following in the footsteps of Monster Exchange and Brand-Boo Students. It contains all major starter characters of Generation 1 except for Moanica D'Kay, who falls under Welcome to Monster High - Monstrous Rivals.
Logs
Each doll comes with a back-of-the-box blurb on the premise of the story. The "How Do I Boo?", "Killer Style", and "Monster Quirk" sections of the profiles are also printed on the back.
Fiction
All First Day of School dolls represent the characters in their standard outfits, worn or assumed to be worn in most of their fictional appearances.
