I am wishing to make the thoughts in my heart and the words from my mouth the same and for the friend who will be patient until that is happening.
Abbey Bominable in her 'School's Out' diary

Abbey Bominable is a 2011-introduced and all-around character. She is a yeti and a student at Monster High. She is an inhabitant of the Himalaya mountain range but has traveled to the Boonited States of Scaremerica to enroll at Monster High on request of Headless Headmistress Bloodgood, who is a family friend of the Bominables. Though not the only foreign student, Abbey has had a harder time adjusting to the new culture she is required to participate in than most. These days, she has created a reliable group of friends around her that make any awkward moments humorous rather than discouraging. Abbey is a proud and straightforward ghoul who doesn't readily spend words to bring her message more delicately. She's also very strong in terms of both physical abilities and psychokinetic ones and therefore intimidating, but although occasionally useful, she'd rather be known as simply a nice monster to hang out with.

Character[]

Personality[]

Abbey is one of the toughest characters on Monster High, but she's also a victim of a cultural clash between her Scaremerican background and her Himalayan background. Even though she works hard to move on from it, she still thinks her old ways are the right ones. She was raised with a lot of short, strong words, and she's tough, confident, scary, and often stubborn. She's not afraid to break the rules, but only if it's for the best. Her biggest problem is that she doesn't always tell the truth, and she doesn't have the ability to change her words to suit the situation. She also doesn't understand the normal teenage stuff, like being anxious about having a crush or flirting, and that's a big problem for her. Stoic most of the time, when you let her in, she will open up and reveal a softer side of herself, affectionate and happy even if in her own unique way with a dry, dark sense of humor that reassures you that she’s just trying to fit in, and that her tough side isn’t everything. Abbey can be very laid-back once you’re introduced to her. Her chilliness may be partly due to her second language being English, and she struggles to tell when people are kidding and when they aren’t. She also struggles with common phrases or sayings. Her references to her home in the Himalayas are very apparent in her speech, and she can be hit or miss when it comes to awkward situations. Abbey is one of the toughest characters on Monster High. She's wild, confident, and full of stubbornness. Some people think she's a bit cold, but once you get to know her, she's a blast to hang out with.

Appearance[]

Abbey is a slim, sparkling-blue-skinned teenage yeti with purple eyes, thick eyelashes, purple brows and long white knee-length hair with mixed uneven streaks of blue, purple and pink, held back by a white yak fur headband. At times, she kept her hair in a ponytail. As per her type of monster, she has sharp fangs protruding out of her mouth, pointy ears and is immune to the cold. Abbey also wears makeup consisting of thick mascara, light violet and rose-pink eyeshadow, hot-pink lipstick, magenta nail polish painted on her claw-like fingers, and blue nail polish painted on her toenails. Abbey is taller than most of the main cast, even in doll form.

Abbey's clothing dons a white, blue, purple and pink color scheme which blends in with her wintery-like theme; she wears a blue crystal-like ice necklace around her neck, and two different sets of dangle earrings; a dark purple snowflake-shaped earring on her right ear, and a blue icicle-inspired spiked earring on her left ear. She wears an off-the-shoulder crystalline-inspired dress which is colored in black, light blue, white, light violet and rose-pink. Her dress also features white yak fur trim at the top, normal white trim at the bottom, two white stripes with purple detailing going down in the front, and small white straps wrapped around it, tied into a bow. Her cuffs and knee-high winter boots are made from white yak fur, and she also dawned a set of sparkling leggings which has a pale gradient of blue, pink and purple.

Abilities[]

Abbey has immense domain over the ice properties due to her Yeti heritage, and it is assumed she was born with these powers. Her powers can either be good or bad, depending on the situation. They are often handy; however, Abbey doesn't have full control over her powers, which causes chaos at times.

  • Cryokinesis: Abbey can create and manipulate ice and frost. She manifests this in several ways:
    • Ice Sneeze: When Abbey gets sick, which she usually doesn't, she will sneeze, affecting her environment, usually leading to ice being created somewhere.
    • Ice Building: Usually, when she wants to project or form ice, Abbey will throw her arms forward and generate ice from her bare hands. She can build anything, from ice bridges to holographic-looking ice walls.
    • Ice Touch: By simply touching stuff, Abbey can freeze an object if she wants to.
      • Body Thermal-Regulation: Abbey can decrease the temperature of her body to extremely low temperatures and will freeze whatever touches her. Her tears will also freeze when she cries, as well as her drinks.
  • Increased Strength: Abbey has shown incredible strength and resistance, which, assumed, comes naturally. Able to lift even the toughest of students, Abbey shows ease when lifting things. This comes in handy and in use when playing sports.

Skillset[]

  • Ice Sculpting: Despite being able to create shapes from ice, Abbey can flawlessly sculpt shapes in the ice.
  • Snowboarding: Abbey can snowboard, which inspired a doll line. This doll line is: School Clubs.

Weaknesses[]

  • Thistle: Abbey points out that she's allergic to thistle plants.[1]

Classic Monster[]

Abbey is the daughter of two Yetis, a legendary ape-like cryptid said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal, India, and Tibet. Stories of the two Yeti couple first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century.

The scientific community generally regards the two Yetis there legend, given the lack of conclusive evidence, yet it remains one of the most famous creatures of cryptozoology. The two Yetis may be considered a sort of parallel to the Bigfoot of North America. The appellation "Abominable Snowcouple" was coined in 1921, the same year Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Howard-Bury led the joint Alpine Club and Royal Geographical Society "Everest Reconnaissance Expedition," which he chronicled in Mount Everest The Reconnaissance, 1921. In the book, Howard-Bury includes an account of crossing the "Lhakpa-la" at 21,000 ft. (6,400 m) where he found footprints that he believed "were probably caused by a large 'loping' grey wolf, which in the soft snow formed double tracks rather like those of a bare-footed man". He adds that his Sherpa guides "at once volunteered that the tracks must be that of 'The Wild Man of the Snows', to which they gave the name 'metoh-kangmi'". "Metoh" translates as "man-bear" and "Kang-mi" translates as "snowman".

Relationships[]

Family[]

Abbey is the daughter of the two Yetis also known as "The Abominable Snowcouple". Presumably, both of her parents are Yetis.

Abbey and Marisol Coxi are second cousins, which suggests that the Maricoxi and her yeti father are cousins, which unites the Bominable/Coxi family relationships, branching Abbey's family away from the Bominables. Additionally, she has a great uncle named Frostovitch, who suffers from weak bones [2], a cousin named Blitnichik [3] and a grandmother yeti. [4]

In her I Heart Fashion description, Abbey refers to herself as the youngest in her family. In Iris Clops's SDCCI diary she mentions her brother, though he is not named.

Friends[]

According to Abbey's profile, her best friends are Frankie Stein and Lagoona Blue. This is because out of all of Monster High's student body, they have been the ones helping her get accustomed to her new environment.[5]

Headless Headmistress Bloodgood is said to be a close friend of Abbey's family -- in fact, it was Bloodgood's idea for Abbey to attend Monster High. While it's never established how/when Headmistress Bloodgood became friends with the Bominables, she's close enough to the family to the point of where Abbey lives with her when school's in session, so the young yeti doesn't have to constantly trek up and down the mountain to come to school. She also seems to be friends with Howleen because in her diary, she defends her when Manny Taur was bullying her[5].

She might be friends with Ricky since she knew that he was in the freezer. [6]

Due to her somewhat cold nature, Abbey tends to make some foes, even when she means well. In fact, her relationship with Frankie Stein didn't start perfectly [7]. Either way, Abbey has made a list of animosities around Monster High, including the werecat trio, Toralei Stripe, Meowlody and Purrsephone, and C.A. Cupid before her exchange. This was mostly due to their opposite personalities and the way each looks at the matter of love, Cupid's subjectiveness versus Abbey's objective ways.[8] though their issues might have been fixed. [9]

Pet[]

Shiver

Abbey's pet is a baby woolly mammoth named Shiver. Shiver is female, according to her bio and stats.

Romance[]

She writes about Heath Burns hitting on her. [5] She states that he is "annoying... but scary cute", and tries to ignore him. She would prefer to be asked on a date as opposed to flirtation.

However, the two seem much closer. When Abbey rescues him in the beginning from a pumpkin attack and saves him from being arrested while running away from the normie village, throughout the rest of the film, he tries to make it up to her. By the end of it all, the two end up dancing together at the party. [10]

Also, in A Perfect Match, Heath tries nonstop to get Abbey to ask him to the dance. Despite her friends' protests, it seems that Abbey asks him either way. As to why she asked him is revealed at the end, when she told Cleo, "He makes me laugh."

She is also one of the many girls who glanced at Archer, as he walked by she tried to impress him by using a fan to blow her hair. [11]

In Scaris: City of Frights, while Heath thought nobody missed him, Abbey stated that she missed him a little, making him happy and starts to hit on her.

In "Gil" Webber's Manster diary it is stated that Abbey and Heath have begun dating.

  • Abbey is the only foreign transfer student who speaks broken English.
  • Her birthday was confirmed to be on December 14th, making her a Sagittarius.
