Venus McFlytrap is a 2012-introduced and all-around character. She is a plant monster and a student at Monster High. She is an eco punk girl who is the head of the Environmental Club. An ecology driven girl, she is a friend of the world and is loved by everyone, however she has built quite a negative reputation due to her mind controlling abilities.

Personality[]
Venus's personality is hard to categorize as, in different forms of fiction, she seems to have different personas that are, for lack of a better term, contrasting.
Sometimes, Venus will be described as chaotic, "loud and in your face". Being an avid party animal, Venus has the energy to use and give, and, along with her punk style, she can be fun-loving and act rather crazy. To go with her punk style, Venus is able to play guitar and sing.
However, in most fiction, Venus is a down-to-earth girl, kind and whole-hearted, who lives a peaceful high school life. That being said, she retains just as much energy as her other persona, almost always in a hurry about the things she is passionate about, occasionally using terms like 'ASAP' to demand speed. However, she is commonly shown to just be a girl that sticks to herself and rarely shows emotion.
However, if there is one thing that remains constant between her two depicted personas, it has to be her love for nature. Venus is extremely devoted to saving the environment, particularly the flora, and she gets extremely passionate about this. She finds what humans and fellow monsters do to the world intolerable and hates that she rarely sees others trying to save it. Since nature is her home, she will go to great lengths to try and save it as a plant monster. She can usually be seen handing out flyers or organizing eco-friendly activities. However, she has few qualms about using her pollen of persuasion powers (see Abilities section) to control people to do small things like sort trash and tend to the school's flora. Because of this, fellow students are careful around her and at times avoid her. Venus is not always aware of this, and when she is, she is more sad than sorry. She feels her fellow students have a general disregard for the well-being of monsters like her, and this feeling is what made her take matters into her own hands in the first place. Venus does try to find other ways to spread her message but is rarely successful.
While there are problems for all students attending and staff working at a school that does not by default offers facilities to cater to their specific monster needs, plant monsters have it, on average tougher due to different sustenance needs and a bigger sensitivity to the immediate environment. Venus is no exception but is hesitant to ask for help if not prompted to it by another. Venus is overall a kind and generous monster who cares (caring).

Appearance[]
Venus has bright green skin with long hot pink and green hair, shaved on one side and swept to the left. Her hair is sometimes tied in a ponytail. She has a tall, slim figure with pale green skin and teal blue eyes. She has multiple teeth protruding from her mouth and has vines entangled around her arms, neck, and ankles. Venus also wears an open short-top denim vest over her black shirt with pink and green floral imprints, pink black-green capris with a black denim skirt over it, and ankle-length high-heeled shoes with thorn-like teeth at the soles.
Abilities[]
Venus is a powerful plant monster with a lot of domain over other plant lives. Examples of her biological powers include:
- Phytokinesis/Chlorokinesis: Through her mind or through her body, Venus has been shown the ability to grow many kind of flora, especially vines, from earth. It is implied that this ability is stronger when meditation is involved.
- Pollen Persuasion: When Venus exhales an amount of "special" pollen from her mouth, on a person, she can manipulate their thoughts and actions, but she can do this with only one person at a time. She is aware mind control is a questionable practice, but still does it if she feels the cause is worthy. In her diary, she admits that she hypnotizes people to help out with saving the Planet.
- Communication: As a sentient plant herself, she can communicate and understand emotions from other plant life that passes by other monsters. She can additionally summon and communicate with Mother Nature, which she does whenever she need advice.
- Pollen/Flower Sneeze Growth: As shown in Freaky Fusion, whenever Venus sneezes, pollen will litter the ground and flowers will grow all around her. Unfortunately, she can't control the man-eating flowers that bloom.

Family[]
Venus's mother has a habit of telling her to "Be a flower not a weed". Venus isn't terribly impressed by this. [3]Additionally, Venus has several brothers whom are several years younger than her. They look up to her and miss her when she's gone. [4]
Friends[]
Within the Ghoulfriends books, Venus is close friends with her dorm roommates Robecca Steam (whom she affectionately nicknamed "Becs") and Rochelle Goyle, as well as fellow boarders Cy Clops and Wydowna Spider. There is a sense of understanding between her and Operetta, who is also capable of mind-controlling others, [3] and as a lifeform that's more dependent on water than most of her fellow students, she's close to Lagoona Blue and Gillington Webber. She is also close to Rochelle Goyle.[5]

Venus owns a pet Venus Flytrap named Chewlian.
