Every day during Frankie's first week she seems to attack Cleo inadvertently, such as electrocuting Cleo and ruining her hair on Wednesday. During Fearleading tryouts later that day, Cleo performs a cool routine that intimidates the recruits into running away, save for Frankie. When Frankie attempts to repeat it, she accidentally splashes a smoothie Ghoulia has on Cleo, who's the Fear Squad captain, causing her to emit a glass-shattering scream. Although upset about that, the mummy becomes interested in Frankie as a member for her spunk. Cleo has a one-on-one interview with Frankie on Thursday, with the two get along until Frankie fibs about having a boyfriend. Cleo walks out of the school with Ghoulia, to whom she rants about how her father may not know that her iCoffin is broken because he'll only use it as an excuse to praise her older sister, Nefera. Cleo illustrates the family relations with a story of how once Nefera threw a party and blamed it on Cleo, thereby ensuring that Cleo never again may host a party herself when her father is not around, like is the case at the moment. The ghostly entity behind the Ghostly Gossip overhears Cleo, but only partly, and sends out an announcement that Cleo's father is out of town and that there'll be a party at the de Nile residence that night.

The announcement spreads quickly and Cleo's immediate group of friends arrives early that evening to help set things up. It isn't until a couple of hours later, when the party is already in full swing, that the girls realize that Cleo and Ghoulia aren't present. Draculaura explains that Cleo is probably buying a new iCoffin because her old one broke, making the girls realize that the party announcement did not come from Cleo and that therefore they broke in. Ghoulia is going through her Dead Fast sketchbook in the shadow of a tree, gloomily sighing every so often. Her friends take note of her odd demeanor, which Cleo can explain: Ghoulia's parents won't let her go to Nekrocon, despite that she'd been looking forward to it the entire year. Missing out on the experience is one thing, but by not attending, Ghoulia also can't enter the raffle for Dead Fast #0, the rarest of all Dead Fast issues. However, talking about Ghoulia's misfortune gives Cleo an idea.

Paging through her sketches, Ghoulia nods off. Her dream takes her to Nekrocon, where she is dressed up as her Dead Fast OC: Ms. Dead Fast. She is just in time for the Dead Fast #0 raffle, but it seems the contest can't take place. Right before the crowd's and security's eyes, a villain known as the Shadow Poacher steals the comic issue and announces he will severly damage it. Luckily for every Dead Fast fan and comic book lover in existence, Ghoulia is present, and she's not only dressed as Ms. Dead Fast but even inherited Dead Fast's power of superspeed. With it, defeating the Shadow Poacher is almost an effortless enterprise. Ghoulia returns the comic issue in mint condition and is cheered on by the Nekrocon crowd.

Ghoulia wakes up and immediately notes that something is different about the sketchbook in her hands. Poking out from its pages is Dead Fast #0. Confused as to where it came from, it is clearly meant for her and Ghoulia is beyond herself with happiness. From afar, their mutual friends compliment Cleo for her gesture. Cleo insists it's nothing, since winning a raffle is easy when you have 10,000 servants to enter. Since she also has a reputation to think of, she does not want anyone to tell Ghoulia, that the comic issue is a gift from her. Her friends don't object. [Source]

Cleo arrives with several shopping bags, but when the others applaud her for her shopping expertise, she admits that it is actually all for her sister Nefera, who has had her running errands since the beginning of summer.

Nefera then arrives and demands that the other girls give her their shopping too, otherwise she will tell her father about the party that Cleo hosted at the end of the school year. She then says that she is late for her salon appointment, and that she will come back for it later.

The girls then notice that Toralei, Purrsephone, and Meowlody are back from the Trigular Calculometry Summer Math Camp, and Clawdeen overhears them saying that Nefera is always wearing the newest trends, so they want to follow her and copy her look. The girls then get the idea of finding a new 'style' to show to Nefera.

Cleo attaches plungers to her heels, Clawdeen wears toiletpaper holders as earrings, Lagoona wears a garbage can as a dress, Frankie wears a bee hive on her head and Draculaura uses roadkill as a purse. Nefera returns and says that they look ridiculous, but they tell her that they are brand new fashion statements, and surely Nefera must have heard about them, since she's a famous model.

Nefera is embarrassed about her apparent lack of knowledge of the new 'top fashion', and demands that the girls hand them over to her. She then dresses in her new 'outfit', becoming the laughing stock of the Maul as passers-by take pictures on their iCoffins.

Draculaura says that Nefera will never be able to show her face at the Maul again, to which Cleo replies that it is the best day of her life. Just then, Frankie points out that Toralei and her friends have indeed copied Nefera's new look, to which the girls all laugh. [Source]

Cleo is livid to see her cruel older sister become the fearleadingg coach. By the end the four are replaced by the werecat trio. [Source]

When Nefera says that the B-team can't practice on school grounds, Operetta lets them preform in the catacombs in her theatre. After long and arduous training sessions under guidance of Scary Murphy and with musical backup from Operetta, they are ready for Monster Mashionals.

Both A-team and B-team of Monster High earn themselves a place in the grand finale. However, shortly before the match, Nefera approaches the B-team and shows them she has brought along a bag full of charms to turn the tide in her favor. This leaves Cleo convinced that she has no chance of winning against her older sister and the A-team. [Source]

The girls prepare for a class trip to Monte Scarlo. As Frankie voices her enthusiasm, she suddenly sneezes. Mr. Rotter hears this and warns her that if she gets sick, she may not attend the class trip. Frankie tries to assure him and her friends she is fine, but her next sneeze causes three other students to get shocked by her electricity. Cleo warns the others to stay away from Frankie lest they get sick too, and become unable to go on the class trip. Clawdeen apologizes to Frankie for having to shut her out, but then she sneezes too, causing her fur to stand up. Next is Operetta, whose sneeze breaks Ghoulia's glasses as well as the windows, and causes several students to be blown out of the building. Finally, Cleo and Draculaura both sneeze at the time, causing them to be covered in heart-shaped pimples and pyramid-shaped pimples respectively.

As the girls try to think of something to be cured before the bus leaves, Gory mockingly tells of how much fun she'll be having at Monte Scarlo. Abbey warns the girls the bus will leave soon, but they tell her to leave them or else she might get sick too. Abbey informs them the people of her village rarely get sick. Meanwhile, Ghoulia figures out the cure they need is a "monster thistle," which Frankie knows grow in the catacombs. The girls ask Abbey to get it for them, to which she complies.

On the ground floor, Gory keeps teasing the girls and claims Abbey won't be back in time. However, Abbey does return in time and blows the monster thistle's pollen over her friends, who get well instantly. However, since Abbey is allergic to the pollen, the action causes her to sneeze and freeze Gory to the floor. The girls run off to catch the bus, leaving a distraught Gory to seemingly miss out on the trip. [Source]

Cleo throws a party, Draculaura becomes ill. The other ghouls say they'll cancel the party for her; Cleo does not see this as an option. Cleo is excited for Ghoulia to receive her first kiss. Slo Mo admires Ghoulia, but sorrowfully, as he thinks that he is not smart enough to fit Ghoulia's preferences for a love interest. When he later finds her the center of attention as she earns a million points on the Dead Fast video game, Lagoona notices his distress and insists he's not too unintelligent for Ghoulia. Slo Mo refuses to believe her and inquires about the magical artifacts Cleo has access to. Lagoona thinks Cleo will have something to help Slo Mo, but discourages the plan. Slo Mo pulls a puppyface though, which convinces her to help him ask Cleo for aid.

Cleo does not have Lagoona's reservations and quickly hauls up an intelligence potion and its antidote from the artifact collection. Slo Mo eagerly drinks it and not only is the change in his intelligence immediate, but also the change in his personality. This worries both Lagoona and Cleo, but they let him be.

The next day, Ghoulia and Frankie witness Slo Mo playing an simultaneous exhibition chess match and winning each of games. Shortly after, he, Ghoulia, and Don are part of a debate competition and, ignoring Ghoulia's wish to do the next rebuttal, Slo Mo launches a long-winded insult at the opposing team's debate qualities. While most in the auditorium are impressed, Ghoulia is angry that Slo Mo did something arrogant and mean like that. Her anger only grows mere hours later, when Slo Mo checks the details of the equation she solved and publicly criticizes and improves it.

Aware he messed up, Slo Mo goes to Lagoona for help to talk with Ghoulia about his actions. Lagoona answers that Ghoulia doesn't want to see him because he's become a jerk. Slo Mo defends himself by saying he now is what Ghoulia wanted, but Lagoona corrects that he now is who he thought Ghoulia wanted. She hands him the intelligence potion's antidote then, leaving the choice to Slo Mo. Slo Mo chooses his old self, making both him and Ghoulia happy in the end. [Source]

Cleo objects on grounds that Hackington enjoys to torment his students by laughing at their misery and threatening they'll fail his class. Bloodgood is shocked to hear this and notes that the award will go to Rotter then. Cleo objects to that candidate too, stating that he is too hard on the students. Frankie adds to that the time he accused several students of taking his glasses, while they were only gone due to his own inattentiveness.

Bloodgood agrees that neither candidate is the kind she wants to hand the Creature of the Year award. Readying herself to start her selection anew with Nightmare's help, Frankie suggests to award her steadfast assistant. And so, Bloodgood announces Nightmare as the Creature of the Year during the ceremony, much to the chagrin of Rotter and Hackington. Everyone else cheers and Nightmare proudly leaves the stage, though not before happily snorting some flames towards the two disqualified teachers. [Source]

Cleo and Toralei are both after the part of Gorothy in the school production of The Wizard of Ooze. Prior to the auditions, Toralei notes that the role of Gorothy is for a young girl and that Cleo is too old to stand a chance. Worried, Cleo grabs for a bottle filled with water from the Fountain of Youth that she got from her great-great-grandmother and turns herself a suitable younger age with a drop or two.

At the auditions, Mr. Where is greatly impressed by Cleo's performance. Toralei doesn't trust the matter and follows Cleo backstage. She sees Cleo gain age as the water's effect wears off and then sees her become younger again by applying the water. Toralei confronts her and demands the water to be used on her too. Cleo refuses, leading to a struggle between the two for the bottle experienced by Abbey and Frankie. Predictably, the potion slips from their hands and spills the water all over the two girls, turning them into "monster babies". On top of that, the amount of water also means they'll stay like that for much longer than Cleo was merely younger. There is a cure, but Cleo's great-great-grandmother will have to send it to her and callbacks are in two minutes.

The girls decide to tell Mr. Where what happened. Blaming each other for the accident, they begin to fight again. Mr. Where draws their attention by claiming they are both perfect for the part. Confused at first, Mr. Where elaborates they will take the role of the Grunchkins, which the Toralei and Cleo grudgingly accept. The role of Gorothy is given to Venus. [Source]

At Monster High, a casketball game is about to take place between the home team and the West Valley Mages. The Fear Squad is present to cheer for the casketball team, though Ghoulia assures them that Monster High will win by 40 points, seeing as how the members of the West Valley High team are small and scrawny compared to the members of the Monster High team.

Surprisingly, within the first minute a member of the West Valley High team takes the ball from Clawd and scores one for the guest team. Even more surprisingly, this goes on until the score is 22-08 for the West Valley Mages. As the Fear Squad discusses what is going on, Ghoulia notices that the West Valley High coach has a crystal ball with him, with which he predicts Monster High's actions so his team can work them into their own plan. The Fear Squad wonders what they can do about this, and Ghoulia suggests that they try to create noise to make the crystal ball shatter. They'll need the audience's help for that though, so the Fear Squad lets Ghoulia lead a cheer filled with stomping and clapping that swiftly catches on with the audience.

While the opposing team's coach does almost drop the crystal ball, the artifact refuses to show even the tiniest of cracks. Worried, the Fear Squad again turns to Ghoulia, who unleashes a supernatural wail on the crystal ball, utterly obliterating it. Without the West Valley High team's ability to predict the future, the Monster High team catches up in no time, ending the game with a score difference of 36-54. Grateful, the Monster High students lift Ghoulia on their shoulders, chanting her name. [Source]

Draculaura and her friends were hanging out when Cleo came to them with the news that Emily Anne, a beloved anti-hate campaign and blog icon, would visit Monster High that day. The girls rushed to the bathroom to make themselves presentable for her arrival. However, in their eagerness to meet the celebrity, Draculaura's need for assistance with her appearance because she can't check herself in the mirror was ignored. A particular mean remark by Cleo made Draculaura's feelings go from helplessness to being unwanted. Ghoulia still tried to help her, but Draculaura was too emotional to still accept any help and told Ghoulia off. When she left, the water monster, who had seen the entire scene in the bathroom, approached Ghoulia and comforted her.

Draculaura ends her diary entry by acknowledging that she treated Ghoulia awfully and that that is not like her at all. The water monster approaches her and asks what Draculaura ís like, coaxing a few acknowledgements of positive traits out of Draculaura. This makes her feel better, and Draculaura agrees to come with the water monster to greet Emily Anne. It isn't until they are at the main entrance of Monster High that Draculaura realizes the water monster is Emily Anne, who had been walking around incognito to see the special monster school herself. Due to the confidence Emily Anne gave her, Draculaura is capable of facing and apologizing to Ghoulia. Emily Anne gives a small speech that having flaws and acknowledging them is a good thing, because flaws are what gives people their individuality. With Draculaura's story of the day as illustration, the crowd cheers at Emily Anne's positive message. [Source]

In the gym at school, Abbey has created a course and car made of ice for Frankie to practice with. This session goes decently until Heath Burns stops by and involuntarily melts the setup. Jackson claims the video game taught him how to drive, but Frankie doubts that when the in-game police motions her to pull over and Jackson argues that you never pull over. Being urged to drive faster, Frankie crashes in-game, which startles her ans makes her shock everyone present.

That afternoon, Frankie returns to the Department of Monster Vehicles for her road test. She witnesses Fenderbender treat another student harshly, making her fearful of her own odds. Frankie and her ghoulfriends on a stairwell, frantically typing into their iCoffins and laptops. Draculaura explains that they're voting for Monster High to become the venue for the upcoming Casta and the Spells concert. The boys admit they have no idea who that is, which shocks the ghouls greatly. Frankie tells them at Casta Fierce and her band the Spells are the hottest band around, and she shows them an episode of 'Monsters of Music' on her phone.

The episode shows Casta and her band performing live, and explains that she inherited her good looks, singing talent, and magical powers from her mother, the witch Circe. There is one drawback though. If Casta accidentally mispronounces a lyric, she can end up transforming her entire audience into animals. After several instances of turning her fans into frogs and cats, Casta and the band decided it was too dangerous to continue touring live. Instead, they now play one live concert every year at Halloween, the location of which is voted for by her fans.

The ghouls get in a few more votes before time runs out. They then watch a live feed on Ghoulia's laptop, where Casta pulls out the winning venue from a magic cauldron. She reveals Monster High has won, and the ghouls cheer in celebration. Casta then reveals that Monster High only won by four last-second votes... which were made by Deuce, Manny, Gil and Invisi Billy. The ghouls are surprised, but as the boys gush in excitement, it's clear they've become serious Casta fans. [Source]

Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Cleo, Ghoulia and Toralei are visiting Casta in her dressing room, having won backstage passes in a contest earlier. While they're excited to meet Casta in person, they notice that she seems very nervous. Casta explains she just has stage fright, but the ghouls can believe someone like Casta could even get stage fright. But with her tendency to mess up her lyrics, Casta has plenty of reasons to be nervous. She explains that during her previous year's concert, she messed up the fast part at the beginning of her popular song 'Witching Hour', resulting in one audience member turning into a giant lizard which trashed the stage. She decides to never sing 'Witching Hour' again.

The ghouls head outside, determined to find something they can use to distract Casta on stage. Toralei however, has other plans. Without the ghouls noticing, she steals their backstage passes and dumps them in the trash. [Source]

It's the end of the scaremester at Monster High, which means that the new school fearbook has been published. Frankie, Clawdeen, Cleo and Spectra go to pick up their fearbooks, and Frankie decides to take a picture of her friends. She's surprised to see a water creature suddenly appear in the picture behind her friends. The water creature pops up behind them and introduces herself as Lorna McNessie, a new Exchange student visiting from Rotland. She mentions that her father is the Loch Ness Monster, and tells the tale of how she came to Monster High...

Below the waters of Loch Ness, Lorna swims toward her castle home, taking a moment to surprise the guards at the gate. She meets her father inside, and asks him if she can go above the surface. He forbids her, explaining that the last time he went up his photo was taken, and since then, normies have constantly visited the lake searching for him. Lorna lays on the charm and her father relents, allowing her to go up for one hour.

Lorna swims up to the surface, and has fun catching a ride on a speedboat, and watching some humans play golf. She then sees a photographer about to take a picture of the loch, and is overcome with the urge to photobomb it. She jumps into the frame and surprises the photographer, resulting in a blurry picture of her. The picture hits the news, and soon hundreds of people are exploring the loch, even diving underwater. Lorna's father is not pleased by this. He decides they need to get away until the commotion dies down, and arranges for Lorna to visit Monster High on the Exchange program.

Lorna finishes her story, and Frankie welcomes her and wishes her luck on her first day. Lorna replies that it's not her first day - she's been here all scaremester. The ghouls look through their fearbooks, and discover Lorna has photobombed every picture inside it. [Source]

This leads to Catrine saying her ears aren't pointy enough and Venus wishes her complexion was greener. Opposing, Cleo believes that she is too beautiful. Marisol, who has been hearing the ghoul's, tells them to be quiet and stop worrying about their 'imperfections', so loudly it scares the ghouls. Cleo asks her if she had never wanted to change something about her aesthetic and Marisol, embarrassed, tells them the story of how, before, she was unsure about the size of her feet and tried to hide them from everyone, especially from this Bigfoot boy, Sam Squatch, who she is trying to impress. She looks in the internet for solutions, and finds a pair of shoes that will make your feet 3 sizes larger! The ghouls are surprised that Marisol was ashamed of how small her feet are, since they are gigantic compared to theirs. Marisol continues the story by telling them she had spent all her guinea piggy bank savings on the shoes, but when she tried them on, she fell of how big they were on her. Sam, who saw everything, helps her out and asks her for a dance. They dance happily and Marisol tells the ghouls that he liked her for who she was, regardless of how she looked.

The next day, the ghouls meet Marisol in the halls and thank them for their wise words in order to make them love themselves more. Cleo seems to have misunderstood the message, since she comes in the halls wearing gigantic shoes like Marisol's. She trips and her friends help her out, laughing with her. [Source]

The ghouls are preparing Monster High's greenhouse garden for the Gloom and Bloom dance, though Cleo is less than happy about having to actually work. He laments that Lagoona won't be able to see it, since she's still in Madread, and Lorna admits she feels the same about her boyfriend in Rotland. Suddenly she receives a text from her boyfriend, but upon reading it, she bursts into tears and runs out. The ghouls pick up her phone and discover her boyfriend has broken up with her via text. They immediately decide to help cheer her up.

The ghouls visit Lorna's apartment and attempt to coax her out, even putting together a 'Skulltimate Break-Up' pack with a giant ice cream sundae. But Lorna refuses to leave. Gil asks if he could try something. Later that night, he appears at Lorna's door in his tuxedo, and asks her if she would like to go to the dance with him as friends. Lorna is delighted to accept, but realizes she has nothing to wear. The other ghouls immediately rush in to help her find an outfit.

The dance is in full swing, and Lorna and Gil are having fun dancing. As they discuss how excited they are about the Corpse Flower blooming, Cleo overhears and states that she knew a corpse flower once, and she thinks they stink. Just as Gil wishes aloud that Lagoona was here to join them, Lagoona suddenly appears, and is shocked to see Gil and Lorna together. Draculaura also appears, just returned from her trip to Shibooya, and notes the very awkward atmosphere... [Source]

The Corpse Flower blooms open. To everyone's surprise, they discover a plant ghoul is resting inside the flower. To Cleo's horror, she recognizes the ghoul as Amanita Nightshade.

Amanita is delighted that the dance in thrown in her honor, and she recognizes Cleo in the crowd. When the others ask if they know each other, Cleo angrily admits that she knew Amanita when they were 'tombmates' together long ago. Cleo explains how Amanita tried borrowing everything, and how she escaped without coming for Cleo. Frankie says she believes monsters can change and has Cleo pick 'scare'. Cleo is extremely excited to attend the Comet Crystal Gala in Boo York City. She invites her boyfriend, Deuce Gorgon, to go with her. Deuce expresses anxiousness towards being surrounded by Cleo's high class family, who he knows do not like him. Cleo assures him that she is not embarrassed of him and their love is unchangeable. Cleo invited her ghoul friends, Clawdeen, Draculaura, Catty, Operetta and Frankie to go along with her and Deuce. In Boo York, the De Niles meet with the Ptolemy family. Cleo is annoyed with Deuce's informal greeting to Madame Ptolemy, and that he wore headphones with rap music on during the meet-and-greet; much to the Ptolemys' disdain. The next morning Nefera and Mouscedes host a brunch for the everyone, except Deuce is missing. Cleo listens to Seth Ptolemy's poetry, and nearly falls asleep from boredom. She is angry when Deuce arrives in swimming wear, and has to borrow an oversized coat to enter the brunch. Cleo is unaware that her sister is setting Deuce up to look a fool; Cleo is furious when Deuce's shenanigans necessitate firefighters.

Later that day Cleo looks through dresses to choose for the night's gala. She is in better moods towards Deuce when he arrives, though he is miserable after everything that's happened. He tells her he's realized how unworthy he is to be dating an elegant princess and says the right thing to do is break up. Cleo passionately disagrees but Deuce determinedly throws the Egyptian chin ornament she'd given him into the fire place. He leaves Cleo with a broken heart and tears.

We next see her in the hotel room, alone, crying. Nefera comes in to see if she's ready for the gala (and to gloat), but is shocked when Cleo screams that she isn't going without Deuce. Nefera then pontificates to Cleo about her family name to convince her to buck up and forget him (and also to protect her designs on the crown); after which Cleo resolves to go, and deletes the photo of her and Deuce she took that day.
