Draculaura in "Food Fight"

Draculaura is a 2022-introduced and all-around character. She is a Romanian-Taiwanese vampire and the daughter of the famous vampire Dracula and his ex-wife, Fang Wei. She's both the head fearleader and Student Bloody President of Monster High, and is secretly studying the art of witchcraft (which is a big taboo in the monster world).

Character[]

Appearance[]

Draculaura is a petite, pear-shaped, light pink-skinned teenage vampire with pointy ears and sharp fangs inside of her mouth. She sports long straight pink hair with V-shaped bangs - the left side dyed in a shade of purplish-black. As per her type of monster, her skin is sensitive to sunlight.

Her eyebrows are fully colored in black, and her pink eyes have noticeable specks of light violet, thick eyelashes protruding from them, and a small heart-shaped beauty mark under the left eye. Her makeup consists of soft-purple eyeshadow, dark pink lip gloss, and black nail polish on her finger nails.

Similar to her first two Generation counterparts, Draculaura is shorter than the main cast, even when wearing her everyday heels.

Core[]

Draculaura's main attire, used for her doll, music videos, and webseries design, consists of different-colored dangle earrings and an accessorized black bowtie. She wears an accessorized light grayish-white necklace, and a pink ruffled sheer blouse under a similarly-colored corset with a lighter-colored, heart and bat pattern imprinted on it. She also wears a set of black shorts with a pattern of white hearts with fangs on them, black over-the-calf frilled sheer socks and hot-pink platform heels with bubblegum-pink, heart-shaped straps.

Her accessories includes a small pink ring on the finger of her left hand, along with two different types of accessories - a black cape with a shimmering pattern of hot-pink hearts and bats, and a pink headband with a bow that resembles her bowtie.

TV Series[]

In the animated series, Draculaura wears a set of different-colored, heart-like bat-shaped metal dangle earrings; black for her right and light hot-pink for her left. She wears a hot-pink corset over a white polka-dotted soft-pink blouse with black trimming on the sleeves' frills, and an accessorized black bat-like leather bowtie. She also wears a bat-inspired black skirt under a baker-miller pink skirt with a pattern of black-outlined, heart-shaped bats all over it. For footwear, she wears black frilled knee-high socks and hot-pink platform heels with black shoelaces, a small black heart adorned on the front, black bat wings placed on the back, and black soles and heels.

Her accessories includes a silver heart-studded black belt around her waist, and two different sets of headwear - a large black spiderwebbed-sunhat and a bat headband.

Personality[]

Draculaura, the daughter of Dracula, seems to have it all—she’s smart, chic, and confident, effortlessly gliding through un-life. As the daughter of Dracula she holds a prestigious position in monster society, akin to royalty. Dracula himself is not only incredibly famous, but he also holds the title of "Premier First and Foremost Top-monster" (P.F.F.T.). This role involves being a judge and overseer of the monster world.

However, being next in line for the P.F.F.T. role isn't as glamorous as it sounds for Draculaura. Beneath her perfect exterior lies a secret—she doesn’t want to follow in her father's footsteps. Instead, she is drawn to something that vampires and the P.F.F.T. are fundamentally against: witchcraft, despite being a significant taboo in the monster world, witchcraft mirrors the journey of acceptance that many individuals face. Monsters typically look down on witches, accusing them of trying to steal monster powers. Unlike innate monster abilities, witches must harness magic from their surroundings, which monster purists see as a weakness and label as "stealing." They fear that witches will take their power and oppress monsters. As P.F.F.T, Dracula ensures that all monster practitioners of witchcraft are punished according to monster law.

However, Draculaura sees that good witches are simply channeling and creatively combining magic, not stealing it. The creativity of witchcraft is what attracts her, as she longs to create and contribute something unique to the world, desiring recognition through her creations.

At the beginning of the series, Draculaura isn't ready to share her passion for witchcraft with others, especially her father. But when Clawdeen and Frankie discover her secret, they offer her unconditional acceptance, helping her embrace her true self. Throughout the series, Draculaura will fully embody her unique identity and find that her father supports her, no matter her path.

Draculaura is a strong believer in the potential for a better world. She actively engages in various social justice causes, including equality and anti-bullying initiatives. Her activism is genuine and visible, and she strives to help everyone around her, especially her friends Clawdeen and Frankie. As a perfectionist, Draculaura often curates her image to show only her best side. With teachers, she’s the model student; as "student bloody president," she fights for her peers; with friends, she’s a supportive and encouraging figure. However, this constant pursuit of perfection can make it difficult for her friends to see the real, more relaxed side of her.

Due to her involvement in witchcraft, Draculaura feels immense pressure to excel in every other aspect of her life to avoid judgment when her secret is revealed to other monsters. Her need for perfection intensifies this self-imposed pressure, as she believes any mistake could jeopardize her entire persona. This internal struggle makes it challenging for her to be vulnerable and authentic, but her friends, Clawdeen and Frankie, are gradually helping her dismantle these barriers. Through their support, Draculaura is learning to embrace her true self more fully and authentically.

Abilities[]

Draculaura holds the standard abilities and characteristics of a vampire and their weaknesses. These powers include:

  • Vamp-ness Meter: Being a vegan, the energy she gains is from successes and feeling good about herself. This is how she prevents herself from decomposing without drinking any blood.
  • Vampire Powers: Being a vampire, Draculaura has many vampire powers:
    • Bat-changing: Draculaura is able to transform into a bat at will.
    • Levitation: She can levitate at a small height without casting her spells, implying her father taught her as a child.
    • Hanging from surfaces: Draculaura can hang from any ceiling no matter what material.
    • Flight: As a bat, Draculaura is able to fly/float.
    • Echolocation: Even as a bat, Draculaura is capable of delivering bat calls and listening to another bat’s echolocation.
    • Glamor: Draculaura can do something similar to hypnotizing people with her voice.[10]
    • Telepathic Communication: Like most vampires, Draculaura can communicate telepathically with other vampires.[11]

In addition to this, Draculaura has magical abilities due to her witchcraft studies:

  • Magic and spell casting: Draculaura can cast magic and many kinds of spell. In the animated TV series, Draculaura accidentally brought food into to life and transformed Deuce's food into a bunch of flowers, a sock and a big sundae. At this point, she was still learning how to cast spells, but she managed to control her magic and casted a sleeping spell on the living food to save her and her friends.
    • Potion brewing: Draculaura is able to make magical potions.

Skills[]

  • Music: She is a great singer, pianist and songwriter.
  • Artistic Skills: Draculaura paints a self-portrait in "Unfinished Brain-ness", implying she’s good at art.
  • Acting: Draculaura appears to be a good actress and can perform in plays with ease.
  • Cheerleading: Draculaura is the captain of the fear leading squad.

Weaknesses[]

  • Evaluation: Because of its low evaluation, Draculaura's witchcraft will not work all the time.
  • Reflection: Like most vampires, Draculaura doesn’t have a reflection in the mirror.
  • Sunlight: Contact to any light can cause Draculaura to turn into dust.
  • Garlic: Draculaura has a horribly severe allergy to garlic.
  • Invitation: Like most vampires, Draculaura needs an invitation to enter people's homes and other places.
  • Humiliation: Because Draculaura fears receiving negative feedback and public embarrassment from her peers, she'll turn entirely grey and decompose.[12]

Relationships[]

Family[]

Count Dracula, who is Draculaura's father, is the most famous and powerful vampire in the world. As the "Premier First and Foremost Top-Monster" (or PFFT for short), he is a very important figure to the monster world, and holds power and influence.

Dracula loves Draculaura and wants the best for her. Because of this, he hopes she will follow in his footsteps and take his place as the PFFT, not wanting her to struggle in life.

Like many fathers, Dracula doesn't always have the right answers or know how to show his affections for his daughter. And due to his belief that witchcraft is dangerous, his relationship with Draculaura was somewhat complicated until he found out her secret in "Spell the Beans".

After learning that Draculaura was a witch, he worried that she would hurt herself, but after talking it out with her, he came to accept his daughter’s love for witchcraft. As the PFFT, Dracula will do anything for Draculaura if it makes her happy, and because witchcraft makes her happy, he promised to do everything in his power to change the rules on witchcraft. Since then, Draculaura and her father's bond is stronger than it ever was before.

Draculaura and her father sometimes have daddy/daughter movie nights together.

Fang Wei is Draculaura's mom. She's a vampire from Taiwan, whose side of the family speaks fluent Mandarin. Like her daughter, Fang Wei has the tendency to be competitive, and she and Draculaura often work together to win any competition that comes their way, even for mundane things like being first in line at a parent teacher conference.

On nights in, Draculaura and her mom like to watch K-Dramas together on face call.

According to Draculaura, when Fang Wei met Dracula, she knew it was love at first sight.[13] However, Draculaura's parents are confirmed to be divorced.[14]

Friends[]

Draculaura's best friends are Clawdeen Wolf and Frankie Stein, her roommates. The two were the first ones to discover Draculaura's secret love of witchcraft.[15] Even though witchcraft is forbidden for monsters, Clawdeen and Frankie supported Draculaura once they realized how much she loved doing it. Draculaura loves her friends with all her heart and is grateful for everything they've done for her.

Romance[]

Draculaura has romantic feelings for Clawd, and he feels the same for her, like how their Generation 1 counterparts were together. (Clawd and Draculaura were also planned to get together in Generation 2, though the generation was canceled before this could happen). It wasn't confirmed when the characters debuted in the series, but by "Horsin' Around", they were confirmed to like each other.

Clawd and Draculaura have had many moments together:

  • In "Paw-zzle Pieces", after Clawd's uncomfortable experience on first trying zappuchinos, Draculaura giggled kindly.
  • In "Nightmare Nightmore", at Dracula's cabin, Clawd was the first to suggest for Draculaura to sing her holiday song after she mentioned it. When everyone was on the Ghoul Mobile to leave, Draculaura was driving and Clawd sat in the front passenger seat. During the Nightmore party back at school, the two sang and danced together.
  • In "Out of Step", the two are paired up for the Monster High Dance Off. Draculaura was afraid to be get humiliated because of Clawd's dance moves, so she tries to help Clawd improve his dancing abilities -- Clawd agrees to this, claiming that he likes spending time with her and her roommates. Their training didn't work, so Draculaura gave Clawd enchanted boogeyman shoes to help him dance, and he accepted them happily. However, seeing that Clawd couldn't control his body anymore because of the shoes, Draculaura realized her mistake and helped him get free from the shoes. When Draculaura was feeling embarrassed, Clawd encouraged her to forget the others' opinions and just dance and have fun, so the two walked to stage holding hands and danced together, followed by everyone else except Toralei. The two had fun together and Draculaura's vamp-ness rised. In the end, when Clawd got scared because of the school's bell, he smiled at her shyly and said he meant to do it, then Draculaura giggled kindly.
  • In "Crushed", Clawd made it to the Fearleading squad, in which Draculaura is the head fearleader, and the two gave each other a hive-five in celebration.
  • During Clawd's song "Best of Both Worlds", Clawd dropped his books when lovingly looking at Draculaura in the school halls, she shyly reacted to his flirting when he was looking at her, and they dance together during almost the rest of the song, as everyone else dances with them during Clawd singing his song.
  • In "Horsin’ Around", they both are shown to actually have romantic feelings for each other, often seen blushing around each other as they hunt down the Sugar Rush Bandit.
  • In "Monster Match", Clawd asked Draculaura to go to the Monster Ball Homecoming Dance with him, using boots for his proposal, and she happily accepted.
  • In "The Monster Way", Draculaura and Clawd danced together in the Monster Ball after bringing Selena back.
  • In “How to Scare a Banshee”, Clawd and Draculaura compete to scare Mrs. O’Shriek, in order for her to get her shriek back. While competing, he admits that he thinks Draculaura is smart and cool, which makes her smile. Draculaura also admits that she thinks Clawd "brightens every room he walks into". The two later work together to scare Mrs. O’Shriek.

Enemies[]

Draculaura had an antagonistic rivalry with Toralei Stripe beginning in the episode "Witch Hitch", when they were up against each other in the head fearleader elections. Having discovered Draculaura is a witch, Toralei blackmailed her into dropping out or else she would expose her secret. After Draculaura used a potion to prevent Toralei from exposing Lagoona's secret about Señor Squeaky, Toralei told the whole school about Drac being a witch, and suggested they all see her witch lair in her dorm as proof. However, the lair turned out to be completely empty, as Lagoona had moved everything into her room to return the favor for Drac.

Toralei continued to be despise Draculaura for her witchcraft practices, attempting to expose her in "Creepover Party" and "Spell the Beans", Drac growing extremely resentful of her for putting her in danger. However, in "Spell the Beans", when Toralei's efforts get her mistakenly blamed for practicing witchcraft and almost expelled, Draculaura comes to her rescue with the help of her dad, making it seem as though the school is haunted by a witch ghost. Toralei returns the favor by not telling the truth.

After Toralei comes up with a plan with the Boo Crew to retrieve Selena Wolf's diary from her mom in "Power Heist", Draculaura admits to Toralei that she has now earned some of her trust.

In "Best Fiends", Draculaura and Toralei get magically stuck together for the whole day due to a friendship bracelet spell gone wrong. They learn to co-operate and work together, building a stronger friendship in the process.

In the web series Monster Ball Homecoming, Draculaura helped Toralei clear her name after the latter was framed for sabotaging the Monster Ball by Deuce's snakes.

As revealed in "Part of the Pack", Draculaura still has a grudge on an unnamed dragon from the year 1847.

Pet[]

Count & Draculaura

Count Fabulous is Drac's pet bat and her true familiar who shape-shifts between winged bat-cat and bat form.

He was first introduced in the episode "So Familiar", where he snuck into Drac's suitcase; at Monster High, when Draculaura was talking about her weekend at Transylvania with her friends, her suitcase burst open, revealing Count Fabulous, who catches her practicing witchcraft by levitating objects. Draculaura (after trying but failing to come up with an excuse) ultimately confesses that she's been secretly practicing witchcraft, which shocks Count Fabulous -- Draculaura assures him that she plans to eventually tell her family (her father in particular) about it, she's just waiting for the right time to do it. Count accepts her decision to practice witchcraft.

Then Draculaura introduced him to her roommates, Clawdeen and Frankie, as she explains Count's origin and how all baby vampires get a bat babysitter, but since Draculaura is in her teenage centuries, Count is supposed to be going into retirement. To cheer her up, Clawdeen gives her the witchcraft codex, who then explains that she needs her true witch's familiar to unlock it.

Despite their efforts, the Boo Crew are unable to find Drac's true witch familiar. With only a few minutes left before the Witchcraft Codex self-destructs, Draculaura gives up and believes she will never become a true witch. Clawdeen convinces Count to listen to Draculaura, explaining that people change as they grow up. Count realizes she is right and flies to sit next to Draculaura, ready to listen to her feelings.

Draculaura makes it clear that she really does appreciate Count Fabulous's support, she also points out that since she's technically now a teenager, most of the issues/problems she's dealing with are much more complex and can't be solved quite as easily as they were when she was younger. Count flies onto Draculaura's lap and cuddles with her, providing comfort. This makes her feel better and she realizes she doesn't want to leave him. She suggests that instead of being a babysitter, they could be the best of friends. Count accepts her suggestion and they hug.

Just as the codex is about to self-destruct, Count Fabulous transforms into his other form, a winged bat/cat-hybrid. He unlocks the book, revealing himself to be a shapeshifter and Draculaura's true familiar.
