Dracula is the adoptive father of Draculaura. He appears in the diaries and various book series, but has not had a visual presence in any of the webisodes or movies, aside from brief photos in the movie Frights, Camera, Action!
Character[]
Background[]
Around 412 AD, Gaius, a Roman soldier and the great-great-grandson of Trajan who was one of Dracula's servants and friends, is killed in a battle, leaving his wife Camille a pregnant widow and with no means to support the soon-to-be-born child. In a move of compassion and honor of his old friend, Dracula gives aid to Camille and receives them in his castle. There, Camille becomes a housekeeper of Dracula.
Soon Draculaura is born, her name given as an honor to the being who saved both her and her mother's lives. The family decides to move to the Dacia province, nowadays known as Romania, to offer Draculaura the environment she needs. Kindhearted, Draculaura grows to be a happy child, and so did Camilla's and Dracula's relationship, as the vampire promotes her to head of the house and soon falls in love with her.
However, as Dracula leaves Dacia to attend an old business in Rome, a plague invades the province, killing many of the inhabitants, in which Camilla is included. Dracula arrives home to find that the love of his life is dead and that Draculaura is sick too, so to prevent her death, he adopts her and converts her into a vampire, giving the child immortality and immunity to the plague.
From that moment on, Draculaura was solely raised by Dracula in the Vampire Court.
One day when Draculaura was in high school in Transylvania, she was seen by humans, during a picnic while eating a tomato. The humans mistook Draculaura's tomato for blood, calling an angry mob that forced her and Dracula to run away from home and settle in Scaremerica.[1]
Dracula was once a member of ASOME, a society who believes themselves superior to other monsters. But after realizing that the group's ideals were wrong, he decided to leave and, along with other monsters, set up the Society of United Monsters to stop ASOME's plans and promote monster equality, which led to the creation of Monster High.[2]
Dracula then becomes an important supporter of the New World project, along with figures such as Hexicah Steam and Bloodgood, and stands for equality within the monster races.
In present day, Dracula and Draculaura live on the same street as Holt Hyde/Jackson Jekyll "in what is either a gigantic mansion or a small castle. I guess you'd have to go with mansion, but only because there isn't a moat and a drawbridge."[3]
Personality[]
Draculaura gets along with her father, although she thinks he is very old fashioned (he bought her Victorian dresses for back-to-school clothes) and every year he tries to convince her to be a more traditional vampire, including keeping nighttime hours and drinking blood.[4]
By the book 'Draculaura And The New Stepmomster' he seems to have come around, as he is more accepting of Draculaura being vegetarian, her being friends with non-vampire monsters, and is stated by Draculaura to be open-minded and progressive.
Relationships[]
Family[]
Draculaura is his adopted daughter. He has a nephew named Thad.
In the Monster High book series, Dracula is the leader of the RADs. He lives with Draculaura, his parents, and other relatives. The Ghoul Next Door mentions that he has a brother named Vlad.
Friends[]
According to Elissabat, Hexiciah was known to be trustworthy by Dracula.
Elissabat trusted him enough to leave a note for him and ask his help escaping Stoker’s control, wishing for Dracula to take the Vampire’s Heart from her and keep it safe. Evidently, Dracula never found the letter.
A century ago, Dr. Stein and Mrs. Stein, along with Robecca Steam, were invited to Draculaura's birthday gala. When a party-going group gossips over how Robecca shouldn't be considered a monster or Hexiciah's daughter, Dracula later apologizes to her for their words and says that it is not an idea that is shared in his house. Robecca calls Dracula a "true gentlemonster" for his kindness. [5]
Romance[]
Around 412 AD, Dracula takes in Draculaura's mother Camilla, a widow who had no where else to go. She becomes his housekeeper, later promoted to head of the house, and Dracula falls in love with her. She tragically dies approximately 16 years later, from the plague while Dracula is away on business, and arrives too late to save her.
In present day, Dracula met Ramoanah in Antarctica on a business trip, and after courting each other for a short while, they decided to get married. (Draculaura And The New Stepmomster)
Notes[]
- According to Draculaura, her father is not the Dracula who Bram Stoker wrote about.
