Premise[]

Frankie bottles up their feelings after not making the fearleading team and causes unintended electrical outbursts.

Plot[]

Frankie is recording on their IBall about their day. It's the day of tryouts for the fearleading squad, organized by Coach Thunderbird, head fearleader Draculaura and already fearleading team member Toralei. Frankie is trying the team along with Clawdeen, Clawd, Iris, Kuma, Heath and Spectra. Clawdeen and Frankie want to join the team with Draculaura, since the three best friends always do everything together. Heath is performing, but he accidentally burns his pom-poms. Next is Clawdeen. Toralei doesn't like the idea of a half-human monster joining the fearleading team, to her shock and the others' delight, Clawdeen's performance is amazing. Last is Frankie, before they go, Clawdeen tells Frankie to not get nervous, and reminds them of the eye scream party that will happen after the pep rally, which Frankie is very excited about. Frankie is not very athletic, so their performance isn't impressive and their right leg flies away accidentally. Draculaura, as the head fearleader, tells the candidates she wishes they all could be on the team, Toralei thinks the opposite, but the final decision is up to the coach. With fearleading enthusiasm and rhymes, Thunderbird annouces the choosen ones for the team: Clawd, Iris, Kuma and Clawdeen. This leaves Frankie in shock and Heath and Spectra upset. Frankie goes to Thunderbird, the coach laments, but says they can try again next year. Frankie starts to cry, Clawdeen and Draculaura comfort them. Clawdeen intially decides to quit the fearleading squad if joining it will make Frankie sad, but Frankie stops her, they don't her to quit because of them, and assure her they are fine, so Draculaura and Clawdeen leave for fearleading practice, but Frankie is still sad.

In front of the school's building, Heath and Spectra comment how upset they are for not making the fearleading team, Frankie experiences disappointment for the first time in their life, and they don't like it and ask their classmates how to get the bad feelings away. Heath says his father always told him to bottle up his feelings and ignore them. Frankie takes this to the literal meaning and leaves to find a bottle. After they leave, Heath continues talking, saying he started going to therapy, and this helped him realize that bottling up feelings in not healthy and that it's best to let the feelings out. When Heath realizes Frankie is gone, he feels sad, Spectra offers to hug him, but they forget Spectra is a ghost and Heath passes through her and falls on the ground. On their dorm room, Frankie finds a bottle and wonders how to put their feelings in it. Not knowing how to, Framkie turns on their IBall and tells it how they didn't make the fearleading team and how sad they are to think Clawdeen and Draculaura are going to have fun without them, this makes Frankie's electric powers rise and some of the lightnings go inside their bottle. So Frankie decides to keep doing it whenever they feel bad emotions.

Later, Frankie is walking down the halls to class and sees by an open window the fearleading team practicing the pyramid in the school graveyard, this makes Frankie sad, they start zapping and then they put the lightnings in the bottle before leaving. At the creepateria, Frankie sees a poster with the food pyramid and remembers the fearleading team, so again, they put their lightnings in their bottle. Cleo sees Frankie goes to sit with them, but Frankie didn't see her and leaves upset, leaving Cleo concerned. Walking at the graveyard, Frankies sees a bush and remembers the fearleading pom-poms, leaving them upset and, yet again, they put lightnings in the bottle. Frankie then heads to the Coffin Bean. Cleo is working as slayer of the eye scream socials, so she is taking post-pep rally eye scream requests and asks Frankie which flavors they prefer. However, Frankie is still upset and says they don't care about it. Cleo is suprised and worried, because she knows how much Frankie loves eye scream. The two then spot Clawdeen and Draculaura sitting together in a corner and laughing, Cleo comments how killer Clawdeen's fearleaing uniform is. Frankie, sad, comments how Clawdeen and Draculaura match with each other and how they (Frankie) won't never match with their roommates. Cleo gets worried and asks if Frankie has FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), Frankie denies having FOMO and puts more lightnings inside their bottle without Cleo seeing it. Frankie goes sit with Draculaura and Clawdeen, who are in a great mood, and asks how was the fearleading practice, the two comment how amazing it was and how they're loving being fearleaders. Frankie gets up for a second to put more lightnings inside their bottle. Clawdeen and Draculaura get up and go to the pep rally, they say bye to Frankie and walk away, leaving Frankie to feel left out again.

At the clawditorium, a few minutes before the pep rally starts, Frankie is looking at their bottle with their emotional lightnings inside it. Cleo appears and sits next to Frankie. Seeing how upset and down Frankie is, Cleo asks them what happened at the tryouts for the fearleading squad. Frankies tells her they didn't make the team. Cleo laments and says sometimes disappointing things happen. Coach Thunderbird appears on stage and announces the introduction of the new fearleading squad to the school. The pep rally starts and Clawdeen, Draculaura, Toralei, Clawd, Iris and Kuma start peforming as the audience applauds. Seeing their friends performing as the fear squad while they are left out, Frankie starts zapping even more with bad emotions, they try to bottle up their feelings again, but this time, the lightnings are too powerful to contain. This releases all the lightnings inside the bottle at once, the lightnings hit the clawditorium's spotlights, causing a blackout at the clawditorium. Everyone panics and bumps into each other because they can't see anything. Frankie, nervous about what happened, drops their bottle and it breaks to pieces. Cleo turns on her nightlight (which she uses to sleep due to being afraid of the dark but denies it), takes Frankie's hand and the two leave.

Outside the school, Frankie asks Cleo if she has an extra bottle so they can bottle up their feelings again, but Cleo is confused, because aren't something to bottle up. Cleo sees Frankie needs someone to talk with, Frankies refuses the offer, not wanting to bother Cleo with their feelings, but Cleo is willing to hear. So Frankie confesses to her everything they've been feeling all day, about how they wanted to be on the fear squad with their roommates, how they wanted to have fearleading fun with them and how they feel left out of their friends' new fun activities. And the worse part is, they feel they can't tell Draculaura and Clawdeen about it, believing it will make them a party pooper. While talking, Frankie releases more and more lightnings. After they finish their confession, Cleo comforts Frankie, she tells them that letting their feelings out is better than bottling them up. She says Frankie can let their feelings out to someone or something else if they can't let it out to Clawdeen or Draculaura. Frankie, seeing it's time to let their feelings out, starts to cry sterically, releasing even more lightnings, the lightnings hit the clouds in the sky then fall back to Frankie. After this, Frankie feels better and charged up, they thank Cleo for her help and feels better to watch the pep rally.

Then, Frankie remembers they caused a blackout at the pep rally and runs to it to fix everything. Frankie and Cleo enter the clawditorium and everything is still a chaos. Frankie climbs to the catwalk and uses their voltage powers to light one of the spotlights up again. The lights are back and everyone pulls themselves together from the panic. The pep rally goes on and the fear squad performs again as everyone, including Frankie, shouts for them in hapiness. After the rally is over, Frankie finally opens up with Clawdeen and Draculaura about their feelings, the girls seem to be in shock after realizing how miserable Frankie has been and the three friends hug warmly, Frankie is also grateful to Cleo. Frankie is finishing recording their monster minute on their IBall. Frankie has learned that it's okay if they and their roommates don't do everything together, they also learned that sharing their feelings with their friends makes them better friends with each other and that being honest about their feelings won't scare true friends away. After finishing their monster minute, Frankie lets out a tear of happiness. Lagoona, who had unexpectedly entered the dorm, gets Frankie's tear of joy in a cup and drinks it.

Notes[]

  • Heath made a reference to Fright Song: "We got spirit yes we do, we got spirit how 'bout you!"
    • Even though this term is used commonly.
  • "Eye scream" is referred to as its human name for the first time by a monster, "ice cream".
    • This lexicon was first used in "The Monstering" by Clawdeen as a human.
  • This episode apparently takes place 1 month after "Witch Hitch".

Milestones[]

  • Frankie and Clawdeen both appear in their Ghoul Spirit outfits.

  • Cleo is revealed to be afraid of the dark and sleeps with a nightlight, although she tries to deny it.

Errors[]

  • Frankie's eyes are sometimes shaded incorrectly.
  • Heath's hair is sometimes more visible in shots.
  • The clutter of mess that Frankie throws while trying to find a bottle is gone in the next frame.
  • As Frankie is in their section of the room, the lighting sometimes is incorrect, with more yellow shades than blue.
  • A random table can be seen in the background as Cleo asks if Frankie has "FOMO", which is short for "fear of missing out".
  • The shading between certain shots differs with hair, arms, etc.
  • Goobert is miscolored in a shot.
  • After Frankie sobs in the first shot trying to let it out, their lightning sparks are seen. The next frame, they are gone and it is just tears.
  • After Frankie lets their feelings out and gets hit with lightning, their hair clips are missing until they enter the clawditorium.
