Summary[]
Draculaura, dressed in celebratory attire, closes the window of her dorm room as a dark and gloomy night dawns. She finds the weather perfect for the first formal dance of the year: the Monster Ball Homecoming. When she enters the dance, which is occurring in the clawditorium where everyone else is also dressed up and enjoying the festitivies, she is rest assurred by her perfect outfit, date, who is Clawd, and planning. Headmistress Bloodgood approaches her, concerned about any potential "surprises", but Draculaura reiterates that the Boo Crew have everything covered (just as ominous lightning strikes) - Frankie is DJing, Cleo is in charge of the dance photography, and Deuce is in charge of baking and handing out the party food. However, Draculaura cannot find Clawd anywhere, and asks Frankie for help, who throws their green eye in the air to do a brief search, but to no avail. Frankie continues to DJ, causing lightning spectacles that almost zap Bloodgood in the process.
Dracula arrives to be the presenter of the Howl of Fame Awards. He is glad to see the homecoming dance has made a comeback despite its troubling past, which Bloodgood prefers not to address. He begins the ceremony, announcing that each award highlights the uniquenesses of specific students - he himself won several when he was a student at Monster High, such as Sharpest Fangs and Most Likely to Become PFFT (Premier First and Foremost Top-Monster), but not Future Monster Movie Star, which was won by Scarlett Gorehansson. The first award is for the Most Unforg-yeti-able Yeti, which is won by Abbey. As Abbey goes up onto the stage, accepts a silver trophy with a snowflake design on it and says her acceptance speech, the speakers instantly start playing a song all about how great she is. When Dracula tries to hand out the next award, which is the Most Memorable Mummy, everyone's eyes turn pink and they continuously chant Abbey's name. Cleo even takes several pictures of Abbey, calling her the best mummy. Dracula, Bloodgood, Abbey, Heath, Frankie, and Draculaura, the only monsters not possessed, are immensely disturbed.
Abbey and Heath create a steam cloud with their powers to stealthily make a quick escape from the crowd, and hide at the DJ station where Frankie and Draculaura are. After taking a closer look at everyone's eyes, Frankie deduces what's happening: everyone is being controlled by earworms, very similar to the same stunt Toralei once did - "choose a song, sing your degree, earworms will make listeners agree". Frankie cannot stop the song from playing, realizing that someone has hijacked their bootooth speakers. Abbey, stating that they can't hide forever, unplugs Frankie's DJ equipment, but everyone is still possessed. She creates an ice wall with her powers, but everyone breaks through regardless. Heath exclaims that they're toast. However, Frankie grabs a microphone and sings a song with opposing lyrics: "listen to me, and be earworm-free". The earworms instantly fall out of the victims' ears, freeing them from their trance. Cleo is confused at the countless pictures they took of Abbey on her iCoffin, but comments that one of them is cute. Abbey thanks Frankie, and she and Heath go to cool off for a while. Clawdeen zooms around the hall and collects all the earworms.
Failing to get their equipment working again, Frankie does some impromptu beatboxing into their microphone, just as someone yells in annoyance from the kitchen. Clawdeen, Draculaura, Frankie, Cleo, Dracula, and Bloodgood head straight into there, where an upset Deuce reveals that all the punch and pastries he had for the party have been stolen. Draculaura is also now upset - she believes the dance is ruined, as the music, awards and snacks have all been sabotaged, and Clawd is still missing. Her dad Dracula assures her that even through the unexpected, he and her friends will support her to the end. Suddenly, a mystical black portal appears on the floor, and drags Dracula straight into it using mystical clouds acting as ropes. Draculaura and friends fail to save him, and the portal closes shut.

Notes[]
- Like the rest of the Nickelodeon G3 webisodes, this episode's upload on the official Monster High YouTube channel was set to private in September 2024 for unknown reasons.
- This has made the original individual episode lost media through official means, but it is still available, like the rest of the volume, as an upload on the official Nickelodeon YouTube channel, which complies all eight episodes into a 40 minute special. Said upload is blocked in the UK and Ireland.
Continuity[]
- As the beginning of this volume, this episode establishes the arc of the "Monster Ball Homecoming", which is the first formal dance of the year. The volume could be a direct continuation of the season 1 finale of the TV series, "The Monster Way", which revolves around the same dance, albeit simply referred to as "Monster Ball". Given the characters wear the same outfits they wore in that episode, this volume likely occurs in the same night, after the Boo Crew free Selena Wolf from Beheme.
- However, Bloodgood is seen wearing her own Monster Ball outfit here, which she did not have in the TV series.
- "Smizing" is mentioned again when Cleo takes Iris' Monster Ball picture, an action previously brought up in "Portrait of a Monster".
- Frankie briefly recounts the events of the episode "Earworm", when explaining how everyone got hypnotized.
- There is a flashback that is animated in the style of the webisodes. Rather than performing alongside her band the Hissfits, Toralei is depicted as the only one on stage, with zoom ins of the possessed Draculaura, Frankie, and Heath in the audience, although they are not cheering for Toralei here.
- Because Toralei's twin cousins are absent, she is shown to just be playing the guitar as well, when in the actual episode, she was exclusively singing while Purrsephone was on the guitar.
- The episode depicts a zoom in the Frankie's brain when their flashback began, similarly to when they began singing in the previous webisode, "Frankie Sings "I Love Myself"". This continues for other characters throughout the rest of the volume.
Milestones[]
- Abbey Bominable, Ghoulia Yelps, Finnegan Wake, and the earworms make their official 2D cartoon debuts.
