Twyla, a boogeymonster
Boogeymonsters are a type of monster in Monster High. Boogeymen in myth can be very different from each other in appearance depending on the myth. Some myths say they're animal-like, deformed humans, looking like witches, or some myths interpret them as ghosts. In Monster High that's not the case, as in "Haunted", Twyla Boogeyman needed "Boogie Sand" to become a ghost. There are different types of boogie monsters all over the world like the, "Wewe Gombel", "El Coco", "Babaroga", and the "Tata Duende" for example.
Monster High[]
Generation 1[]
In Monster High, the two mentioned boogie monsters are Twyla and her father. Because of Twyla, we know that boogie monsters eat nightmares. We also see that Twyla can travel through shadows and see if anyone is a shadow, but it's unknown if all boogie monsters have these abilities. "Boogie Sand" can turn anyone into some kind of monster, as shown in the movie "Haunted", when it was used to turn Twyla and the ghouls into ghosts.
Generation 2[]
Not much is known about boogeymonsters in this generation, as Twyla is the only one in G2 and she's shown to not be that different from how she was in the first generation.
Generation 3[]
Boogeymonsters in this generation have many more abilities. For example, they can enter the dreamworld via dreamwalking and affect dreams; Twyla does so by providing encouraging words to those who experience nightmares.[1]
Teenage boogeymonsters must complete a rite of passage, which is when they must conquer a Night Terror, creatures that will haunt them with their worst nightmare. Twyla's Night Terror was a scary bunny-like creature who confronted her about having to grow up and forcefully leave behind all she currently loves for a tedious adult life. Night Terrors can also enter and terrorize the dreams of a boogeymonster's friends and family if the boogeymonster were to allow them to enter a portal into the dream world. The specific ways in which boogeymonsters can defeat their Night Terrors are unknown, but Twyla was able to defeat hers, and thus complete her rite of passage, by transforming it into a sweet dream - a dust bunny. As boogeymonsters can also manifest dreams into the real world, Twyla took in the dust bunny as her pet and named him Dustin.[2]
Description[]
Generation 1[]
In generation 1, there has only been one named boogeymonster being Twyla Boogeyman, so her appearance is a template for them. She has light purple-blue skin, with grey hands and feet. The grey pattern on her hands are swirls invoking shadows. Twyla's eyes can also glow in the dark a trait most boogie monsters may have.
Generation 2[]
In generation 2, Twyla almost looks exactly like her generation 1 counterpart, except that she doesn't have grey hands and feet and doesn't have the swirls either.
Generation 3[]
In generation 3, Twyla has light teal wavy hair with purple streaks. Her skin is color is a light purple, she has light teal eyeshadow and dark purple nails.
